Where to Eat Fresh Seafood in Aruba

Surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, Aruba has no shortage of fresh seafood — but knowing where to find the good stuff takes a little local knowledge. Here’s where to go.

For the most authentic experience: Zeerovers

Already mentioned in our Oranjestad restaurant guide, Zeerovers deserves a second mention here because it is simply the best place on the island to eat fresh fish. The catch comes in daily from local boats, gets fried to order, and is served with a squeeze of lime and a cold beer. It doesn’t get more authentic than this.

For a proper seafood dinner: Flying Fishbone

Located right on the water in Savaneta — literally, the tables extend out over the sea — Flying Fishbone is one of Aruba’s most unique dining experiences. The seafood menu is strong, the wine list is well-curated, and the setting at sunset is genuinely romantic. Book in advance, especially in high season.

For a casual lunch: local snack trucks

Along the road near the fishing village you’ll find small local snack trucks and takeaway spots serving fresh fish sandwiches and seafood soup. These change frequently but are always worth exploring if you’re driving through the area.

For grilled lobster: Screaming Eagle or Gasparito

Both restaurants offer fresh local lobster in season. Aruba lobster is the Caribbean spiny variety — no claws, but the tail meat is sweet and firm. It’s a splurge but a worthwhile one.

What to order

  • Mahi-mahi — the most common local catch, firm and mild, excellent grilled or fried
  • Red snapper — often served whole, great for sharing
  • Wahoo — a local favorite, rich and flavorful
  • Conch — used in soups and stews, a true Caribbean classic
  • Spiny lobster — in season from October to April

Getting there

Most of the best seafood spots are outside the main resort area, in Savaneta and the fishing village. A round trip with a local driver makes the most sense — they’ll know exactly where to go and can drop you back to your hotel afterward.
